Al Swank at the Johns Hopkins University and Hospital nuclear chemistry cyclotron facility in Baltimore, Maryland.

This project consisted of the decommisioning, removal, transportation and sale to Langdon Engineers of a 16 Mev. cyclotron.  The cyclotron after decommissioning was transported to Langdon Engineer's Washington state facility.

The intent and purpose of this project is to advance the medical and eduational resources for the people of Alaska.  This Johns Hopkins project was intiated by Al Swank in 2004 and completed in 2008.

The Alaska cyclotron facility will establish a local PET isotope research and production facility.

Sales to ALL medical imaging facilities in Alaska will be offered at the minimum cost  possible.

The Alaska facility has other PET target and systems research projects, and commercial clients support agreements that will assist in financially supporting the complex.  These additional revenue sources will reduce costs for PET isotope production, thereby decreasing costs to all local medical facilities.

The projects  completion in Alaska is scheduled for September 2011 in Anchorage.

A second similar project is under development in Washington State with another cyclotron and a later completion date.  Langdons Washington cyclotron  facility will  perform research and PET Isotope distribution in Washington and back up services for the Alaska facilitiy when and if necessary.
